For other businesses, who may not want to ‘go the whole hog’ but still demonstrate leadership in the fight against climate change, CRI also offers the Carbon Neutral Product and Carbon Neutral Service Certification Programs.
Businesses that offer certified carbon neutral products and services position themselves to attract and retain consumers who want to reduce their impact on the climate.
The Program logo alerts climate-conscious consumers about the action your business has taken in offering carbon neutral products or services and provides them confidence that their purchasing decision will result in positive action in reducing carbon emissions.
How to get started
The first step to certifying a product or service as carbon neutral is to conduct a life cycle assessment (LCA) by our technical audit team.
The LCA calculates the carbon footprint of the product or service throughout its useful life from manufacture, including all inputs, to transportation and usage through to disposal or cessation.

Who is selling carbon neutral products
One of CRI’s objectives is to help drive businesses to work in a sustainable marketplace.
The Low Carbon Economy brings together the network of CRI’s NoCO2 Program certified businesses, servicing climate conscious consumers with carbon neutral and low carbon products and services.
With the aim to further reduce supply chain emissions, CRI advises clients from all industries on how to also manage a sustainable procurements’ strategy to indirectly reduce one’s own carbon footprint.
CRI helped packaging experts BioPak achieve its goal to provide customers with the highest quality eco-friendly packaging and food service disposables available in the market today.
BioPak underwent a carbon audit conducted by CRI, which revealed climate change impact (as well as that of their products). BioPak then offset 100% of these emissions through the purchase of carbon offsets.
These offsets support wind projects in China to help reduce their footprint, improve public health and create economic opportunities in renewable energy.
Wind projects partially displace electricity currently generated from grid connected conventional fossil fuel based thermal power plants, while reducing emissions and local air pollution. In addition to its environmental benefits, the implementation of the project creates job opportunities for local workers, contractors and suppliers.
These carbon offsets have also been verified against the Voluntary Carbon Standard, one of the world’s leading third-party verification benchmarks, and correspond to real, permanent, verified and additional reductions in greenhouse gas emissions.
